Introducing Shorts in Your Wardrobe

As the temperatures rise so do the hemlines, which means that the time has come to tackle the topic of selecting the proper shorts for spring. First, start with creating the right color combination for your wardrobe. Basics are just as important for your shorts wardrobe as they are for your wardrobe as a whole. Start with choosing black, white, khaki,gray and denim. These basic colors will serve as the basic foundation of a great many outfits that you can put together for summer. They are also great buys because people will remember the outfit as a whole and not necessarily the short so it will not appear as if you are wearing the same outfit over and over again. Once you have your basic collection complete, venture out and select colors and patterns that you are comfortable with. I love muted floral patterns as well as black plaid and herringbone as my go to patterns. It is important to also choose a certain number of bold colors as part of your wardrobe. I have a bold red and blue pair that I often incorporate into my style. Once you have chosen the color combinations that you are working with, the next considerations are length and style. Start with your style consideration. You should have at least two styles of shorts in your wardrobe. Once style should be the casual option that is appropriate to wear to outings with the family or during your day-to-day activities. The, choose a slightly dressier version that could be dressed up to wear during the evening with a jacket and a heel or wedge. Finally, consider the length of your shorts. I am a petite person so finding the right short for summer can prove to be quite difficult. I usually opt for a shorter short that hits me at the mid-thigh so that I do not appear shorter than I already am. However, if you are not comfortable with that length, then you can opt for a longer version so that you feel comfortable in your own outfit.
